Partnering with Hanyang University, Hanyang Women's University and other local institutions to offer advanced lifelong learning, the program opens five courses this year — from Chinese and Western cuisine to generative AI — with first-come, first-served enrollment starting June 15.
Seongdong-gu in Seoul will run the "2026 Seongdong Master Academy," a professional lifelong learning program developed in partnership with local institutions.
The Seongdong Master Academy is a differentiated cooperative education program unique to the district, drawing on the human and material resources of local universities and specialized institutions to deliver high-quality instruction.
This year, the Seongdong Lifelong Learning Center is collaborating with Hanyang Women's University's Lifelong Education Institute, Hanyang University's Future Talent Education Center and the Aisarang Complex Cultural Center to offer a total of five courses tailored to residents' learning needs.
The lineup combines hands-on practice with in-depth study across five courses: a gourmet Chinese and Western cooking class led by a certified master chef, a dessert cafe course, a generative AI fundamentals and practical application course, a literature-based course on consolation and healing, and a Clip Studio digital drawing and merchandise production course.
Partnerships with local universities and institutions equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will provide practice-centered learning in specialized fields. University professors and subject-matter experts will participate directly to ensure academic rigor and program quality.
Last year's Seongdong Master Academy drew strong satisfaction ratings with hands-on lifelong learning programs including Clip Studio comics drawing, home restaurant creation and a course on the remarkable changes arising from the intersection of architecture and AI. This year's edition is expected to offer a more advanced curriculum through expanded institutional partnerships, giving residents meaningful support for self-development and skills enhancement.
Registration opens June 15 at 9 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis through the express reservation system on the Seongdong-gu website. Any Seongdong-gu resident, or anyone employed or enrolled as a university student within the district, is eligible to apply.
