Herald Corp. announced Wednesday that it has appointed Executive Vice President Kim Hyung-gon as head of The Korea Herald and chief of its marketing division.
Kim will oversee The Korea Herald as well as Herald Corp.'s broader marketing operations. A graduate of Korea University's department of journalism and mass communication, he joined the company in April 1995 as part of the sixth cohort of open recruitment hires at Naewoe Economy, the predecessor of The Herald Business. He went on to hold a series of editorial roles, including policy team chief, culture desk chief, financial investment desk chief, political desk chief, industry desk chief and chief of the planning and coordination office, before serving as editor-in-chief of The Herald Business in 2019.
In 2021, Kim took on the role of marketing division chief at The Herald Business, overseeing advertising sales as well as external affairs and content business operations.
