Former DL Construction head to oversee construction division; company secured 1 trillion won in new orders last year

BS Hanyang announced Wednesday that its board has appointed Park Yu-shin, head of the company's construction division, as co-CEO. Park will lead the company alongside incumbent CEO Choi In-ho.

Park joined DL E&C in 2001 and built extensive on-site experience across the construction industry before serving as CEO of DL Construction. He has overseen BS Hanyang's construction division since 2024.

The company said the appointment marks the start of a push to consolidate stable earnings in its core construction business while accelerating a group-level growth strategy in future energy — including solar power and liquefied natural gas.

Despite a sluggish construction market last year, BS Hanyang secured more than 1 trillion won (about $659 million) in new orders from urban redevelopment projects alone, including sites in Seoul's Myeongmok-dong and Incheon's Geumsong zone. The company also diversified its order pipeline through public-private development projects in Pyeongtaek Godeok and Miryang Bubuk, reinforcing the competitiveness of its housing brand "Sujaein." With a total order backlog of 8 trillion won — including self-developed projects — BS Hanyang said it is focused on improving long-term sales visibility while managing risk with a focus on profitability.

The company is also pressing ahead with future growth drivers, including a 5.4-gigawatt renewable energy complex under development in the Solaseado area of Haenam-gun, South Jeolla Province. BS Hanyang already operates solar power plants at Solaseado, Goheungman and Haechangman, and is on track to complete the Gwangyang biomass power plant this year and begin commercial operations at the Yeosu LNG hub terminal in 2028 — a trajectory the company says marks the energy business entering a full-scale profit-generating phase.

"The solid performance of the construction division will serve as a strong foundation for the growth of our energy business," Park said. "We will raise BS Hanyang's long-term corporate value through balanced growth across both construction and energy."
