11 winners to receive AI training trip to Los Angeles
LG Uplus is teaming up with Google to host the second edition of the "Uth Shorts Festival," a customer-participation short-form video competition.
LG Uplus announced Tuesday that the second Uth Shorts Festival will be held as part of its strategic collaboration with Google. The contest is organized around Uth, LG Uplus's Generation Z-focused brand, and is run jointly with YouTube. Submissions are open through July 31, and anyone can enter regardless of age or mobile carrier.
Participants must create a short-form video using generative AI, upload it to YouTube and then submit it through the festival's official website. Entries must include a note stating the video was produced with AI and must be tagged with the designated hashtags.
The inaugural Uth Shorts Festival last year drew roughly 3,000 participants who submitted a total of 6,884 videos. About 77 percent of entrants were in their teens or twenties.
This year's contest challenges participants to create short videos expressing their personal stories using generative AI tools, including Google's latest AI model Gemini. In keeping with the company's brand slogan "Simply U+," LG Uplus has set the theme as "expressing your true self through AI." Entrants can choose between two categories — "Simply," in which they use generative AI technology to capture their tastes, values and everyday moments, and "Arts," in which they create content using AI-generated voice and sound. Entries in both categories are also permitted.
LG Uplus will offer participants a range of generative AI-related benefits. The company plans to run online and offline educational sessions on how to produce short videos, developed in collaboration with AI-focused content creators, along with prompts and production guides. During the festival period, all customers who request a discount voucher through the official email address will receive a package worth 10,000 won (about $6), comprising coupons for Google AI Pro and Domino's Pizza. Voucher recipients will be able to access the latest AI features through Google AI Pro, including Nano Banana and Veo 3.
LG Uplus will evaluate submitted videos based on thematic relevance, creative quality and view counts. The top 11 winners, including the grand prize recipient, will receive a seven-day, five-night AI training trip in September to visit Dataland, an AI museum in Los Angeles, and Google's US offices.
