Gyeongsan Mayor Cho Hyeon-il launched his first public outreach since winning reelection Tuesday, visiting a series of traditional markets across the city — Hayang, Gyeongsan and Jain public markets — in a relay shopping event.
At Hayang Kkumbaou Market, Cho toured the stalls, listened to vendors' concerns and greeted residents, maintaining a field-centered approach to communication and governance.
The shopping event, which began at Hayang Kkumbaou Market, is set to continue at Gyeongsan Public Market and Jain Public Market in sequence. Officials from all city departments are taking part, running a campaign to promote traditional market use alongside the shopping visits.
"I visited the traditional markets with city officials as my first act after the election because I wanted to hear directly from small business owners and merchants — the roots of the local economy — and stand with them," Cho said. "I will push forward with field-centered economic policies so that both neighborhood commercial districts and small businesses can regain their vitality."
