Transition body named 'Gimpo Citizens' Great Leap Preparation Committee'; runs from June 11 through July 20; about 100 citizen advisers to be appointed
The transition committee for Lee Ki-hyung, mayor-elect of Gimpo for the ninth directly elected term, will begin operations June 11 under the name "Gimpo Citizens' Great Leap Preparation Committee."
Chae Sin-deok, a Gyeonggi Province Assembly member-elect (second term, Gimpo District 2), will chair the committee. Jeong Wang-ryong, a former Gimpo City Council member, will serve as vice chair, and Kim Cheol-hwan, a Gyeonggi Province Assembly member-elect (second term, Gimpo District 4), will serve as spokesperson.
Transition committee members include Lee Gyeong-ho, aide to National Assembly member Kim Ju-young; Lee Gyo-young, aide to National Assembly member Park Sang-hyeok; Kim Gye-sun, a three-term Gimpo City Council member-elect; and second-term Gimpo City Council members-elect Kim Gi-nam, Jeong Yeong-hye and Yu Mae-hui.
A number of outside experts have also joined the committee: Noh Gye-hyang, director of the Together Autonomy Research Institute; Kwon Jin-woo, head of the housing and urban research division at the Gyeonggi Research Institute; Im Chae-seon, former head of the creative economy promotion unit in Seongdong-gu; Choi Yong-hun, former tourism director at Gyeonggi Province; Yun Gwan-yeong, former team leader at Gimpo Urban Corporation; and Kim Dong-yeong, vice chair of the construction and transportation committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly.
The committee will be divided into two subcommittees — one covering administrative welfare (planning and administration; welfare and education; culture and tourism) and one covering urban economy (transportation and safety; urban affairs and housing; economy, industry, agriculture and environment) — chaired by Lee Gyeong-ho and Jeong Wang-ryong, respectively.
A separate "Special Committee for Citizen-Felt Satisfaction in the First 100 Days" will also be established to quickly address everyday problems facing residents as soon as Lee takes office. About 100 citizen advisory members are expected to be appointed.
The transition committee office will be set up on the second floor of the main building of the Sau-dong Administrative Welfare Center, and the committee will operate through July 20.
