Construction of an eco park at Gwangi Reservoir in the Juknim housing development new town in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, has reached an overall completion rate in the 90 percent range.

According to the city of Yeosu, the Gwangi Reservoir Eco Park project will use a total budget of 7.1 billion won (about $4.59 million) to build 2.8 kilometers of waterside deck walkways, observation decks and landscape lighting.

As of June, crews have completed major work including the walking trail and safety railings, bringing the project to 90 percent completion. The park is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year.

Yeosu plans to develop Juknim Reservoir, which borders the Juknim district, into a premium recreational destination on par with Suncheon's Jorye Lake Park.

"We will do our utmost to complete the Gwangi Reservoir Eco Park project without a hitch, so it can become a space where residents can comfortably rest and enjoy their leisure time," a city official said.
