Gravity PDRN shampoo combines marine microalgae-derived PDRN with coacervate delivery technology, showing improvements in root volume, shine and volume retention
Polyphenol Factory, a faculty startup affiliated with KAIST, has launched the Gravity PDRN Hair Recovery Shampoo, targeting people in their 40s and older experiencing hair loss.
The product, some of whose underlying technology was unveiled at CES 2026 earlier this year, features a delivery system designed to maximize the retention of PDRN — a compound that helps reduce hair loss — on the scalp even after rinsing. In clinical testing, two weeks of use reduced hair shedding by approximately 73 percent.
The company officially announced the launch Monday at a press briefing held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The Gravity PDRN shampoo is the world's first commercial hair care product to combine marine microalgae-derived PDRN with polyphenol coacervate delivery technology.
PDRN is a key regenerative ingredient that promotes scalp cell regeneration and healing, strengthens hair follicles and helps reduce hair loss. The polyphenol coacervate delivery technology is designed to keep a high-concentration PDRN complex on the scalp after shampooing.
Polyphenol Factory developed the shampoo in response to three concerns that become more pronounced from the 40s onward: hair thinning caused by hormonal changes and lifestyle factors, chemical damage from frequent dyeing and perming, and dissatisfaction with the feel of existing functional anti-hair-loss shampoos.
The shampoo contains a coacervate adhesive PDRN complex derived from marine microalgae and developed using KAIST technology — a bioadhesive formulated at a concentration of 100,000 ppm. Polyphenol-based technology is applied on top of that to further improve the retention of the high-concentration PDRN complex on the scalp.
In addition, LiftMax308™ — a KAIST-patented ingredient — boosts hair volume, while LiftMax615™ addresses dryness and roughness.
According to Polyphenol Factory, tests conducted by the K Dermatology Science Institute and Seonjin Clinical Research Center, both designated cosmetics testing institutions under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, showed the following results: a 73.66 percent reduction in hair shedding after two weeks of use, a 43.02 percent improvement in hair root volume after a single use, a 95.89 percent volume retention rate over 24 hours, a 68.04 percent improvement in scalp soothing indicators, and a 61.62 percent improvement in hair shine. Safety has also been verified in multiple countries.
