Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters held a release event Friday at Seokho Port, releasing 30,000 olive flounder fry and 20,000 abalone spat raised using thermal discharge water from the plant.

Hanul Headquarters chief Lee Se-yong and representatives of local fishing communities attended the event. Since 1999, the headquarters has released a total of 2.75 million farmed fish and shellfish through this year.

Bang Hak-su, chairman of the fishing village council at Jukbyeon Fisheries Cooperative, thanked Hanul Headquarters for consistently working alongside Uljin fishermen over the past 27 years. "I hope the fry and spat grow well and lead to a bountiful catch," he said.

"We hope the release of fish and shellfish will contribute to rebuilding marine resources and increasing the income of local fishermen," Lee said. "We will continue to seek ways to provide practical support to the community."
