Streaming service Tving is under investigation by the Ministry of Science and ICT over a leak of member information.

According to the ministry, Tving reported the security breach on Sunday. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) subsequently ordered Tving to preserve relevant data and began investigating the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage.

An emergency session of the cybersecurity incident review committee concluded that the breach constituted a serious incident requiring the formation of a joint public-private investigation team. The ministry said it would form such a team based on the committee's findings.

The investigation team will include ministry and KISA officials as well as private-sector experts in digital forensics and cloud services.

To prevent secondary damage such as smishing attacks, the ministry issued a public security notice on the Boho Nara website.

The notice warned that voice phishing schemes and malicious app installations exploiting keywords such as "compensation," "damage inquiry" and "refund" are a concern, urging users to exercise caution.
