Two spaces — Street Art Museum and Small Gallery — open to youth artists, local clubs and all residents; free year-round rentals logged 133 bookings in 2025, hosting exhibitions, performances and community gatherings

Gangdong-gu in Seoul announced Wednesday that the Cheonho Underground Passage Culture Gallery, located near Cheonho subway station, has established itself as an open cultural arts space in residents' daily lives, offering a venue for free year-round exhibitions, performances and community gatherings.

Renovated in 2024, the gallery comprises two spaces — the Street Art Museum in the central underground corridor and the Small Gallery. Both host a rotating lineup of exhibitions, performances and small-group meetings throughout the year.

The venue operates as a cultural community space open to anyone, including youth artists and local clubs, with a focus on public art. Commercial, political and religious activities are excluded. The Street Art Museum can accommodate more than 40 works at a time, while the Small Gallery is designed for smaller exhibitions as well as club meetings and community gatherings.

The two spaces recorded 133 bookings in 2025 alone and have already logged 15 bookings as of May 2026. They are consistently used for a wide range of purposes — from exhibitions organized by local arts groups to regular rehearsals by instrument clubs such as ukulele ensembles.

Both spaces are available free of charge. Inquiries can be directed to the Urban Landscape Division of Gangdong District Office.

"The Cheonho Underground Passage Culture Gallery is an open cultural space where any resident can take center stage," a district office official said. "We encourage everyone to make active use of it for exhibitions, performances, gatherings and other activities of their own design."
