Dear Annie : Being 76 years old and in the twilight of my life, I have truly “been there, done that” in so many ways. I have seen much, done much and still search for much.

애니에게 : 이제 76세로 인생의 황혼기를 맞고 보니 정말 다사다난한 일들이 있었어요. 많은 일들을 보고 해왔으며 아직도 더 많은 걸 찾고 있어요.

I give thanks to all those who have helped and empowered me over my lifespan. I give thanks to all those on whose backs and shoulders I have stood all this time. Only in America could have I been so blessed and fortunate in receiving all my gifts of love, laughter and life.

미국은 아직 위대해요. 상처를 치유하고 씻어낼 지속적 체력과 선천적 힘을 갖고 있으니까요. 미국은 아직 위대해요. 변함없이 낙관주의를 고취하고 당당히 비관주의를 극복하고 있으니까요. 끈질기게 영감을 고취하고 일관되게 소외를 물리치고 있으니까요.

I firmly believe that most Americans want what is best for our fellow citizens and our country: fairness, opportunity, responsibility, education, respect, equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We are all in this together.
