Dear Annie: Is there a right order and a wrong order for putting on one’s shoes and socks? I find that on most days, I put on both socks and then both shoes.

The other day, I put on one sock and one shoe and then the other sock and other shoe. I remember a scene on the old TV show “All in the Family” in which Archie Bunker and Meathead were getting ready to go out.

며칠 전에는 한쪽에 양말, 신발을 신고 그 다음 다른 쪽에 양말, 신발을 신었어요. 예전 시트콤 ‘올 인 더 패밀리’에서 아치 벙커와 미트헤드가 외출할 준비를 하던 장면이 기억나요.



Archie noticed that Meathead had put on one sock and one shoe, and Archie asked him what he was doing. Why didn’t he put on both socks first and then the shoes?

아치는 미트헤드가 양말 한쪽, 신발 한쪽을 신은 걸 눈치채고 뭐하는 거냐고 물었어요. 왜 양말을 양쪽 모두 신은 다음 신발을 신지 않냐고요.

But I am wondering whether any polling company has ever done a survey of how people put on their shoes and socks.? Curious in Klamath Falls

Dear Curious: Don’t know of any survey, but I suspect that most people dress in the order Archie does. In my view, as long as each shoe ends up on its correct foot, you’re doing all right. However, if any of my readers feel strongly about the one-sock-one-shoe method, I’d love to hear from you.

궁금한 분께: 조사가 있는지는 모르겠지만 대부분 아치가 하는 순서대로 양말, 신발을 신지 않을까 싶네요. 제 생각에는 구두 짝만 제대로 맞춰 신으면 괜찮지 않나 싶습니다. 하지만 양말- 신발, 양말- 신발 방식에 통감하는 독자분들이 있다면 의견을 듣고 싶네요.
